Mass Casualty Response
This interoperable capability revolves around NHS ambulance staff providing support during a large-scale mass casualty event, for example a significant transport accident (such as a train crash, motorway pile-up or air crash) a terrorist attack or other major incident scenario.
Each Ambulance Trusts has a set of nationally consistent procedures which can be followed in the event of a mass casualty incident to ensure casualties are stabilised and transported to a wide network of NHS facilities.
A specialist fleet of vehicles and mass casualty equipment is provided and also maintained across England. They are maintained as an interoperable capability at a high state of deployment readiness.
